This Charleston Family Photographer loves the friendships that flourish with everyone the camera gets the opportunity to photograph. It’s more than taking pictures, we love knowing your stories and capturing your precious moments. It seems close relationships naturally flow from and develop with the people we meet and we are blessed by it! It’s got us wanting to answer the question, Where are they now? One of the families that we asked just that are Wimberlys (You may recognize them from this and this LOL). We’ve seen them grow so much from Landon and Kelli’s wedding, to their daughter Anna Landi’s first birthday!
Valerie was a part of photographing Kelli and Landon’s May wedding in 2010, but the couple have loved each other for a long time. Kelli said, “Landon and I have known each other practically our entire lives. We went to school together from K-4 through 12th grade (we were even the King & Queen of Heart in our K-5 play of Alice and Wonderland). We started dating the end of our junior year of high school and have been together ever since.” The Wimberlys and Valerie always stayed in touch and the pet parents periodically scheduled family sessions with their adorable, german shorthaired pointer, Scout.
Life is a little different for Scout now-a-days. The sweet 6-year-old pup now has “a baby sister,” and the Wimberly’s couldn’t imagine life any other way. “Anna Landi loves her “pup-pup” and Scout has been a trooper. He’s relaxed and definitely taken the backseat to Anna Landi but will practically beg for attention if any visitors stop by. He is great with Anna Landi. She can climb, pull, pinch, tug on him and he just sits there and lets her do it. Scout loves when Anna Landi shares her food with him, especially her Goldfish. There are occasional tug-of-wars with each others toys, but that’s what brothers and sisters do, right?”
Valerie had the pleasure doing the Wimberly’s beautifully brilliant maternity session at Hampton Park in Charleston when they were expecting Anna Landi. Pregnancy brings MANY changes and sometimes things don’t go according to plan. “I was very blessed because my pregnancy went very well (no morning sickness or any complications), but I was anxious. I’m a worrier so of course I read any and all things related to pregnancy, good & bad, to ‘try’ to prepare myself. I learned worrying and ‘trying’ to prepare myself was pointless because you can’t plan or prepare for the big day! Labor and delivery wasn’t as smooth as the pregnancy. I was 23 hours in labor, 8 hours with no epidural, 2 & 1/2 hours of pushing and then finally a C-section!. BUT it was completely worth it to have brought Anna Landi, all 9 lbs 9 oz & 22.5ins, into our life!”
We were honored to do newborn photography with the Wimberly’s as well as Anna Landi’s 3, 6, 9, and 12 month baby photos! Kelli says she’s loved all their photos but did tell us a few favorites. One photo that is most significant to is from Anna Landi’s 12 month old session. Kelli said, “Valerie captured the sweetest moment of Anna Landi looking down at my late brother’s fire helmet, and reaching out to touch it. Seeing that picture for the first time brought tears to my eyes (and that has never happened before) and anyone that I gave a copy of that picture to, had the same reaction. It is special to me because Anna Landi never got to meet Ross, but it’s my goal for her to know all about him and what an amazing person he was and this is kind of a symbol of her growing up with him.”
Anna Landi will grow and change and we look forward to photographing her and the family through their life’s changes. Currently Landon is a production operator at Showa Denko Carbon in Ridgeville and Kelli is a pharmacist at Grove Park Pharmacy in Orangeburg. Where else will life lead the Wimberly’s? Kelli says, “Our dream for our family is to raise Anna Landi (and any future children, Lord willing) in a home with the same love and support we both had growing up from our parents and grandparents. We pray we teach and guide her/them in the ways of the Lord and that she/they grow up being a strong woman/person of faith, knowing that when she/they place her/their faith in the Lord anything is possible. We pray that her/their lives be filled with just as many blessings that we have. Our “plan” (even though we know life doesn’t go as planned) is just to take one day at a time and enjoy each and every minute of it because tomorrow isn’t guaranteed and we want each person to know that if nothing else they are loved. The future, we put that in God’s hands and trust His plans for each of us and our family. We pray that our future is filled with happiness, laughter, health and most importantly, love.”
