We’ve been there to shoot for Kelli and Landon starting with their engagement, then the wedding, and we’ve done their family portraits with their sweet pups too. Once the Wimberly’s were expecting, we were overjoyed to do a maternity session. Precious Anna Landi was born and we got to do her newborn portraits, as well as every stage of growth for her 1st year!
Well here we are now, Anna Landi turning one, and we were pumped to celebrate this little girl’s 1st birthday!
Pretty in pink and gold and surrounded by matching party balloons, Anni Landi was sure to get all her adorable and playful photos in first before making a beautiful pink mess of her perfect birthday cake. The gorgeous blush colored rosebud cake, looked dreamy, with a sparkling glitter gold calligraphy style topper of Anna Landi initials.
It was almost sad to see the sweet cake go, but so much sweeter to see her eat it! We are so pleased to catch these darling moments.
Some of the most cherished of these moments are from Anna Landi’s newborn portraits where the Wimberly’s requested to incorporate the fireman’s helmet of Anna Landi’s uncle, Ross, who has passed away. He is dearly loved and very missed. Truly it’s an esteem to help honor the memory of Ross. It was especially precious to once again incorporate her uncle’s helmet for the one-year-old portraits.
The greatest compliment was when Kelli said how Anna Landi’s helmet photos are her all time favorites. Ross would be proud of his niece and Valerie and Co photographers are proud to be the ones to capture these special points in time.
Happy birthday baby! We look forward to being there for the Wimberly’s next phase in life! To view more family sessions by this Charleston Family Photographer, go hereRead More »
Of course mom, dad, and adorable big brother think she is perfect too. Some of our favorite shots are of big brother and baby sister. He loves her, wants to help take care of her, and it is precious to see.
Oakleigh melts your heart with her soft wispy light brown hair and her piercing eyes. It’s funny too that her little eyes just did not want to shut for some of the photo shoot, which is not typical for a newborn! This little one wanted to stay awake for the action and we got some pretty precious shots of her taking in her surroundings.
However, being a newborn is tough work, so we did get a plenty of shots of this angel asleep in dreamland.
The Weavers came to us before Oakleigh’s birth to do a Maternity Session at Boone Hall Plantation. That session was wonderful too! The whole family is picture perfect, Allison is beautiful and was absolutely glowing for the maternity shoot. Oakleigh arrived, and the Valerie and Co Photographers team was thrilled to do Newborn Portraits with the Weavers. It’s amazing to be the ones to capture the growing family in different stages and being a Charleston Family Photographer for the Weavers is special to us.
Oakleigh is so loved and you can tell the darling Weaver family were just meant to have Oakleigh. We can not say thank you enough to them for letting Valerie and Co Photographers be the ones to photograph these precious moments!
Pregnancy can be an amazing time in a person’s life. You get to feel little kicks from the growing baby, perhaps the family will document mom to be’s belly bump gradually changing, and if you’re fortunate enough, you may even have that beautiful pregnancy glow that people speak of! Valerie and Co Photographers can tell you that for sure, Allison has that glow! We hope you all enjoy these images form this Glowing Weaver Maternity Session as much as we do.
We went with the Weavers to Boone Hall Plantation for their Maternity Session and sincerely captured Allison’s gorgeous glow. The setting and the family are a dream for any Charleston Maternity Photographer. Boone Hall Plantation is renowned for it’s picturesque grounds. From the old oak trees covered in Spanish moss, the spiraling wrought iron gates, the rustic dirt roads lined with trees, the quaint dock on the marsh, to the beautiful wild flowers, there’s not a bad place to capture a portrait. The Weavers too are fantastic to photograph; you can see the fun and love they share. We can already tell that big brother is going to take good care of his baby sister when she arrives.
This Charleston Maternity Photographer wanted so much to capture and convey all of that for this great family through photograph. To our delight, we here at Valerie and Co Photographers feel that it all really shines through!
Congratulations to the Weaver family, we are so very happy for all of you. Everyone be on the look out for baby girl Weaver’s Newborn session soon… And for more maternity session photos, check us out here!Read More »
6 Mothers Allowed Their 5-7yr old daughters to do their makeup…and the results were precious! – Charleston Family Photographer
“Pretty Mommy” – A Perfectly Imperfect Mother’s Day Celebration / Concept Shoot – by Charleston Family Photographer Valerie and Co. Photographers
Watch the video first!
In an early celebration of Mother’s Day, we decided to put together something extra special!
It is truly a precious thing that, to a 5-7 year old girl, Mommy is the most beauuuutiful woman in the world. With-OR-without makeup, Mommy is perfect.
As parents, our kids trust us no matter what, and (most of the time) they know who’s in charge. For this shoot however, we reversed the roles a little bit. We put the daughters in charge for a little while! They had full reign of what they think Mommy’s makeup should look like. The moms owned their new high fashion looks with pride! At the end of the session, girls got to enjoy watching Mommy do a mini-fashion shoot with her new makeup. We had so much fun! (Have you watched the super sweet video yet?)

My “real job” of course is a Charleston family photographer, but I love coming up with concept shoots to feed my creative soul. My original idea was more in line of how funny it would be to photograph moms with makeup a little “off”! (Haha! I’ll admit that was my original thought.) However, this concept shoot quickly morphed in such a beautiful way and melted my heart. As I photographed these special moments between mothers and daughters, I saw the love and the trust. I laughed at how the moms hid their fear as daughters brought mascara wands toward their eyes. The patience of the moms really made me smile. And OH! THE LITTLE GIGGLES! The giggles were absolutely the best. (I even caught one giggle on video from Kaia, did you hear it? Ah, so sweet!)
So THANK YOU, from the bottom of my artist’s heart, to all the moms and daughters who participated in this concept shoot. Thank you to all the dads and grandmas who babysit the other kiddos so these moments could happen! (And thank you for your willingness, to those who volunteered for the time slots that filled so quickly and we couldn’t get you in.) I hope all of you had as much fun seeing these pics and videos as I did taking them!

The Vaughan family is very happy to be expecting their third child due at the beginning of July 2015. This mom-be-be also happens to be a member of our wonderful Valerie and Co. Photographer’s team, and she has been friends with Valerie since middle school! It was an honor as a friend to be her Charleston family photographer to celebrate the announcement of the gender of the Vaughan family’s third sweet baby.
Every time the Vaughan family throws a party, you can expect to see very many crafty DIY details created by Mom! They have so much fun personalizing the decor and experience for their friends and family at their own special occasions, and she does the same when hosting baby showers and other events for others as well. We hope you enjoy some of the unique ideas and details that can be used in a gender reveal party. The Dad-to-be is in the US Navy, so it seemed only natural to choose a nautical theme for this gender reveal party: little sailor or little mermaid? She used this theme to create the personalized sign on her pinata, cupcake toppers, and for friends and family to vote their guess of boy or girl (little sailor or little mermaid).
On a hilarious note, as you can see, during the actual moment of the gender reveal, there was a pinata “fail”! The look on the face of the mom-to-be is priceless! They pulled the strings, but the candy and other pinata contents did not fall out which made the entire room erupt in laughter. Mom and Dad had to pull the confetti out and shower the party guests with fun blue confetti. Most of their friends and family had guessed girl, but the Vaughan family will soon welcome their third little boy to join the two big brothers. It was so much fun for this gender reveal party to be held in our Valerie and Co. Photographers gallery. Valerie was very happy to be the Charleston family photographer for the Vaughan family to announce they are happily expecting baby boy #3!
The Wimberly family is one of our dearest clients! We have been very lucky to be their Charleston family photographer for many occasions! Valerie and Co. first had the pleasure of capturing Kelli and Landon’s love as they said their “I do’s” and Kelli’s maternity session with their beloved dog Scout. Even though Kelli and Landon have now welcomed their first baby girl, Scout will of course always be their first “little baby.” Scout is always one of our favorite dogs to photograph during our annual “Dog Days of Summer” sessions!
This session with sweet little Anna Landi was full of curiosity and sleepless moments. Most newborns are very sleepy and pretty easy to pose, but this little girl did not want to be wrapped up and posed! Anna Landi was just too full of excitement and wonder about the world around her! Even though the session was full of laughter and baby tears, for mom, there was still an unspoken silence while sweet Anna Landi wore a special hand-made hat to match her late Uncle’s firefighter helmet in honor of his memory, life, love and service.
Just like many of our past clients, we hope to continue to celebrate each chapter in the Wimberly family’s life as their Charleston family photographer!

This sweet little blue eyed baby girl and her family is a past client of mine from our 2014 Halloween costume mini sessions. I am so honored her family enjoyed their first experience with our studio and chose me to be their Charleston family photographer to document such an exciting milestone as their baby girl’s first birthday! For many one year olds we do in studio cake smash sessions, but it was so much fun to do an on location session in downtown Charleston to celebrate this baby girl turning one year old!
Their baby girl has some of the brightest blue eyes, beautiful blonde hair, and adorable big toothy grin that will all make make you melt. She is one happy little girl, and I truly enjoyed capturing her many expressions throughout the historic district nearby Waterfront Park. I loved including just a few sweet shots of Mama and baby girl together as well as a couple of wonderful portraits with her lovely grandparents. I look forward to having the opportunity to be this family’s Charleston family photographer for years to come!
Jessica Perdue is a past client of mine, so it was such a joy and a treat to finally meet and photograph her sweet family that has grown by another little one since the first time I worked with her. We absolutely love the Perdue Family! I am very happy and honored that she enjoyed working together in the past and chose me to be her Charleston family photographer!
The Perdue Family of five are some of the sweetest and down to earth people you will ever meet. From the oldest to the youngest, their three children’s personalities reflect what kind parents they have and just how much family is so highly valued to them. We all had an amazing time with their session in the historic district of downtown Charleston in the Waterfront Park area. Do you not just adore the images of just the kids in the beautiful gated alleyways as well as the sweet and fun shots of the whole family on the green space by the water? We look forward to being the Perdue Family’s Charleston family photographer for years to come!
Liz and Brian Gensheimer live in Atlanta, GA so it was an honor and exciting they chose to make the trip to Charleston for their maternity photo session with me! Liz is also a past client of mine. It was such a joy to hear from Liz and have the opportunity to work with her again. I am happy to be a Charleston family photographer for our local families the majority of the time, but I also love it when I have clients who travel to Charleston to work with me. Not only did Liz and Brian travel to Charleston for their session, they arrived separately from two different states! Liz drove from Atlanta, and her husband Brian flew in from Pennsylvania where he had been on a business trip. We loved getting to work with them during their stay, and we hope they enjoyed their time together in Charleston, SC because it’s a great choice for a “babymoon!”
The Gensheimers recently welcomed their baby boy named Caleb, and we can’t wait to meet him some day and watch him grow! There is nothing sweeter than helping families like the Gensheimers celebrate the growth of their family and the love they all have for each other. Liz was an absolutely glowing Momma-to-be, and we just know Liz and Brian are handling parenthood beautifully. We are so happy for you all, and it is always a treat to be your Charleston family photographer. We are flattered when clients make a special trip to work with us!
If you could put yourself in the shoes of a photographer, imagine what would be your first thought when hearing a client’s family session will include their 1, 2, and 3 year old children. Of course you think this is going to be a challenge to have all of those little ones, siblings at that, to cooperate. I am always up for a challenge, but as luck would have it, the Merrithew’s 3 children ages 3 and under were the sweetest little dream subjects a photographer could ask for! I had such a great time being their Charleston family photographer!
This couple is obviously doing a phenomenal job as parents raising a wonderfully behaved and loving little bunch of kids. What a joy it was for me to meet them all and celebrate such a loving family. I am so happy The Merrithew’s chose me to be their Charleston Family Photographer! Look how much fun we had that day together!
